Italian Saffron Threads
Saffron harvest 2016
In the year 2016 we have been engaged in an ambitious project born from the desire to rediscover our territory, from the passion for nature and the primal need for a return to the origins, where man and earth lived in a coexistence made of nourishment mutual, love and dedication linked to the production of Italian Saffron Threads, grown in a protected area in the province of Viterbo, where the land is rich, without pesticides and chemicals, ideal for growing.
The saffron bulbs (crocus sativus) were planted in August. Between the end of October until mid-November begin to sprout buds and these are hand-picked before they hatch. In the same arc of the day, stigmas are extracted, one by one, selected and dried in suitable machines to 45 °, in a sterile environment in accordance with HACCP.
Once dried, the stigmas were packed in elegant glass jars certified for food use, sealed with a label and placed in small transparent boxes ready for distribution.
